Exciting Updates on Fiona's Litter and Upcoming Ivy's Goldendoodle Puppies

Welcoming new puppies into the world always brings joy and excitement, but sometimes it also comes with unexpected challenges. This past weekend, Fiona’s litter arrived under tense circumstances that required quick action to ensure the safety of both mother and puppies. Alongside this, we have thrilling news about Ivy, our F1 standard Phantom Goldendoodle. Ivy is expecting her first litter October 7th! This post shares all the latest updates, including details about the puppies, the emergency C-section last weekend, and how you can reserve a spot on the waitlist for current or upcoming litters.
Fiona’s Litter and Emergency C-Section
Last weekend, what started as a normal delivery Saturday afternoon became cause for concern when a puppy was born out her amniotic sac accompanied by lots of blood. This puppy appeared to be of normal size and likely passed away during the hour between signs
of amniotic fluid escaping and her birth.
Because Fiona wasn't pushing or appearing to have contractions, we waited the normal 4 hours between puppies that could be expected.
After 4 hours, this quickly turned into an emergency situation.
We rushed Fiona to the emergency vet with her male puppy (who had been born 5 1/2 hours before) for a C-section to save the last remaining puppy. This was not the plan, but it was the best decision for Fiona and her puppies’ health. Thankfully the surgical team was already in the ER and the surgeon only 15 minutes away on call so we up opted for his expertise over the ER vet at her recommendation.
The emergency C-section was successful, she was also spayed during the procedure and will be retired. Both Fiona and her male and female puppy are doing well now. This experience was a first for us at Apricot P&G, reminding us how unpredictable dog births can be and how important it is to be prepared for any situation. The two puppies from this litter are named Luke and Leia after Star Wars siblings and are already reserved. We are grateful for the support and understanding during this stressful time.
Lady’s Upcoming Litter with Zeke
We also confirmed that Lady, our smaller Standard Poodle mom, is expecting a large litter of 12 puppies with Zeke, the petite 16-pound golden doodle featured in our previous posts. This litter offers a great opportunity for those interested in mini or medium golden doodles. We
still have less than half of the waitlist spots available for this litter, so if you are looking for a smaller-sized Goldendoodle, this might be the perfect chance!
Lady’s puppies will inherit wonderful traits from both parents, including friendly temperaments and athletic, playful energy. We expect a variety of coat colors and patterns such as phantoms, reds and phantom merles; making this litter especially exciting for families who want a unique and loving companion.
Opening the Waitlist for Ivy’s First Litter
We have big news about Ivy Meadow, our 2.5-year-old F1 standard black & tan phantom Goldendoodle. This is her first litter, and after a challenging year trying to get her heat
started, she was bred yesterday to Zeke, a chocolate merle phantom Poodle from Kentucky.
Ivy has made impressive progress in her training, having passed Advanced Obedience and working on passing her Canine Good Citizen certification. She and Zeke share a love for retrieving and playing fetch; ideal for families looking for that classic family dog . Both are very affectionate and we expect their puppies will get these traits as well.
What to Expect from Ivy’s Litter
Breed: F1b Goldendoodles, standard size (55-70lbs)
Colors: Brown and tan Phantom (ultra rare), Black and tan phantom (rare) and red or apricot.
Patterns: Possibility of parti patterns and merle patterns.
Parent Traits: Strong human-centered temperament, Advanced obedience skills and playful nature.
Poodle Parent: Zeke has with seven titles with AKC including trick titles and multiple Canine Good Citizen titles. He is a certified therapy dog through the American Red Cross Association.

Why Choose Our Goldendoodles
Our breeding program focuses on health, temperament, and family life exposure. Each dog is carefully selected for their physical and behavioral traits to ensure future puppies from them will have the best chance of growing into well-rounded companions. We also emphasize early socialization, exposures and training through daily handling and the Puppy Culture socialization protocol.
It should be known that Goldendoodles are very intelligent and will require training. Poodles are the 2nd most intelligent dog.
-I see in puppy applications that people often have previous dog experience and have an expectation of what their first goldendoodle will be like-
If you don't have the time to train your dog yourself, it is paramount that you have someone train them for you or enlist the help of a personal trainer or board and train. It is also imparitive that you socialize them outside of the home before they are 12 weeks old. That first month home is called the Crucial Social Period. If you don't have time to take your puppy with you places or out into the world in a safe, controlled way, then it may not be the best time for you to get a puppy. These early investments will reap benefits for the rest of you and your dogs relationship. If not, a Goldendoodle may not be the breed mix for you.
